Who are Lilac Sky Schools working with?

In Somerset

In January 2010 we began a contract to take over the Leadership and Management of an EBD School in Taunton, Somerset working in partnership with Somerset Local Authority.  The school had been in special measures for five years and required work in all seven areas of the Lilac Sky Strategy.  We were delighted when a successful Ofsted inspection removed Sky College from Special Measures at the beginning of this year.  We are now concentrating on improving the school further with our 'Good to Outstanding' plan and preparations for the redevelopment of the site which is on target to begin later on this year.

We have had a year long relationship with Chilton School in Bridgwater. Pat Hollinghurst, the head there, has been innovative and courageous asking Lilac Sky Schools to work extensively with her and the school’s staff to introduce various components of the Lilac Sky Strategy. So far we have worked on the schools approach to Leadership, Teaching for Learning and Positive Discipline. Pat says that working with Lilac Sky Schools has challenged her thinking and that it has been a real learning experience. Relationships for Learning improved hugely when the Lilac Sky strategy was introduced.

We are in discussion with the Local Authority in Somerset to support a wider group of their schools in the National Challenge.

In London

We are working with 12 schools in one south London Borough providing Lilac Sky’s unique solutions in the area of Pastoral Support and Positive Discipline. The Local Authority is concerned to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate  fully in their education. Lilac Sky School’s belief in the ‘universal entitlement’ to education, means that we work to find whatever means we can to ensure every student can succeed.

In Essex

We are working with a group of schools in Essex to ensure that student’s are fully supported in school even where they have Learning or behavioural difficulties.

We are intensively supporting one of the schools to move out of the National Challenge – and improve its approach to managing students and Teaching for Learning.

The North West

We are working with a group of Academies in the North of England – mentoring, coaching and developing their Leadership capacity both in the implementation stages of the Academy process and during the start up of the new Academies.

Lilac Sky Schools

When we work with schools – it means that one of our team of Lilac Sky Strategy Advisors works in school every week for at least a term.

By doing so we get to know the school, it’s community and the teachers and students. We work at a Strategic Level with senior leaders but also get in the classroom and on to the corridors working directly with teachers and children to affect change.

Since we started work at the beginning of this year Lilac Sky Schools has worked with over 25 schools. Helping, to help the schools, help their young people be the best that they can be.
